APPLICATION POLICIES
API program applications are accepted on a rolling admission basis. Late applications are accepted if there is still space available. There is a $180 late fee added to the program fee.
API advises students to APPLY EARLY. API also urges all students to discuss the following payment policies with their home university before applying to study abroad. In certain instances, a student’s home university may assume some or all of the program fees, including the application deposit and/or the confirmation payment.
WHEN APPLYING
A $150 deposit must accompany an application. The $150 application deposit is applied to the cost of the program and is not an additional fee. The $150 deposit is refundable only if a student is not accepted into the API program after all application components have been submitted or the program is cancelled.
AFTER ACCEPTANCE
Students receive a letter of acceptance, a letter for visa application (if applicable) and several forms, which must be completed and returned by the specified payment deadline for their program. Students also need to send passport-sized photos by this deadline.
WITHIN TEN DAYS AFTER ACCEPTANCE NOTIFICATION
A non-refundable $400 confirmation payment is due within ten business days after acceptance notification. The $400 confirmation payment will be applied to the cost of the program and is not an additional fee.
BY PAYMENT DEADLINE
The balance of the program fee is due by the payment deadline. A $250 security deposit is due on the final payment deadline, which is separate from the total program fee and is REFUNDABLE three months after the student returns home, less any damages or unpaid expenses.
PAYMENT METHODS
- Checks, credit cards or money orders accepted.
- All financial aid is accepted. API will work with universities to sign consortium agreements when necessary.
- Extended payment plans are available. Call the API office to arrange an individual payment plan.
